76th Young Chartered Surveyors Annual Ball 2009
This year’s Young Chartered Surveyors (YCS) Black Tie Ball took place on Friday, 30th October, in the Hilton Hotel, Charlemont Place, Dublin 2.
The committee had gone to great lengths this year to continue the tradition of holding an annual ball and this year’s committee includes the following:

In his address, Kieran Curtin, Chairperson of the YCS, described how the Young Chartered Surveyors was set up in London 120 years ago. He mentioned that there had been numerous changing during that period; however, the core principle remains the same – to support young surveyors starting out on their careers.
At present, the YCS holds numerous events throughout the year and in 2009 these have included;
- Meet & Greet night held in April, attended by over 50 people.5-a-side soccer and bbq held in July, attended by over 100 people.
- Site Visit to Lansdowne Road, held in September.
- Annual Young Chartered Surveyors Ball Tie Ball
- Further meet & greet night to be held in December.
The YCS have recently set up a facebook page and are in the process of launching a loyalty card for all members.
In conclusion, Kieran Curtin mentioned to enjoy the nights event and look forward positively to the future ahead.
In his address to the annual dinner, Mr. Cribbin mentioned that the downturn had affected graduates and young surveyors the hardest.
Mr. Cribbin also thanked the younger members for getting involved and encouraged those who were not involved in the YCS to do so.
