
The Society of Chartered Surveyor has five grades of membership; all members of the Society belong to one of the grades.
Each grade of membership carries its own benefits, in order to ascertain which grade of membership is relevant to you please follow the below links:
Student Membership
...any student who is enrolled on an accredited SCS/RICS course is eligible to apply for student membership.Student membership of the Society of Chartered Surveyors is free of charge
Technical Membership
...applies to candidates who have a level 7 SCS/RICS accredited qualification and are enrolled on the Assessment of Technical Competence (ATC).
The ATC is a 24 month period of training and experience by which the Society deems you competent to practice as a Technical Surveyor.

Probationer Membership
...applies to candidates with an accredited SCS/RICS qualification who are enrolled on the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).
The APC is a 24 month period of training and experience by which the Society deems you competent to practice as a chartered surveyor.
Associate Membership
...candidates who successfully complete the Assessment of Professional Competence are Associate members entitled to use the designation of “Chartered Surveyor”.
Fellowship Membership
....Associates who can demonstrate a successful career progression with in the profession as well as business experience may apply for Fellowship Membership. Fellowship membership is a mark of professional and personal achievement. All associates who are successful in their application for fellowship are entitled to use the designation of “Fellow” of the Society of Chartered Surveyors.
