SCS Role

In addition to its main function of establishing and maintaining the professional standards of its members, the Society of Chartered Surveyors also carries out a wide range of activities including:

 

  • Making submissions to Government and other relevant authorities on matters of Construction and Property interest.

  • Publishing a number of widely-respected publications, including the Society of Chartered Surveyors Review, the Property Law Review and the Construction Cost File.

  • In conjunction with the Industrial Property Data Bank (IPD), the Society publishes the IPD/SCS Index which charts movements in the commercial property market on a quarterly basis.

  • Publication of a bi-annual Building Tender Index.

  • Publication of the annual SCS Homeowners Guide to House Insurance. This guide is of great assistance to members of the public when renewing their annual house insurance.

  • The Society website carries detailed member information and links to other relevant sites.

  • Ensuring that members are kept up to date on relevant developments in their profession by means of regular lectures, seminars and technical publications.
